TAKE MY JOB - PLEASE

OLD COMEDIANS NEVER DIE - THEY JUST GIVE UP

mark forward is a canadian comedian - yes, like marty short

- cept mark's taller and has a way with his fans, they love him

but he hates the way stand-up comedy has fallen, to the

lowest common denominator... it's just not the same anymore

(where do these people get the money to go to a comedy show?)

you know darn well - who these people are

most times anymore, the people that pay to see live, stand-up comedy

seem like they don't have to pay attention, or understand nuance

or know the language or have at least a12th grade education

they do know how to talk and text and make bodily function sounds

mark has seen better days, and he's just not enjoying it any more

he's always loved making people laugh

CAN YOU EVEN IMAGINE:
TEXTING AT A COMEDY SHOW? HECK, YOU'RE PROBABLY TEXTING RIGHT NOW...

he's just HAD IT with the whole new scene, but this is tragic

he's a bright guy, funny, promising - he was voted best new stand-up

he's been doing it for over 10 years

he says that it seems people come to the clubs

not 'cuz they want to laugh and have a good time

it's more like - make me laugh (or we're gonna heckle you)

he believes - like i do - that real comedy is about real jokes

- jokes that have a set-up and a punchline,

not just endless stories and lots and lots of cussing

and crude stuff, that's really not funny

he thinks it's the new crowd's attention span, they want quick,

short - 5 minute bursts - like they are used to on youtube...

it is a new world, like i wrote about last month...

this may just be the future of funny

i hope not and i hope mark doesn't really throw it away

he says that a good joke needs to breathe

- maybe that's it, maybe he just needs a breather...

he does have a booking for next march...

i hope he continues and do what he loves to do

i think i'll text him and tell him...

SEE MARK MAKE 'EM LAUGH
