REALLY BIG MAC

the temporary mcdonalds, built to feed the athletes in

the olympic park is expected to serve around 50,000

big macs, 100,000 portions of fries and 30,000 milkshakes

all in the next 2 weeks during london games of 2012

it covers 3,000 square-metres

and is the largest mcdonald's ever built

it stretches over two floors, has 1,500 seats and will employ

around 500 staff, most just cleaning-up after those kids

mcdonald's used the opening of the flagship restaurant

(pictured top) to announce that its restaurants will ofter

the most diverse menus in their history

adding a wider variety of tastes and nutritional values

for the first time at the olympic games, mcdonald's is offering

their famous happy meals, which include the options

of a fruit or vegetable and low-fat dairy plus other goodies

they realize that the athletes have to stay fit

as well as part of an initiative to help improve healthy eating

mcdonald's president and chief executive don thompson

who officially opened the restaurant in the village

explained that customer purchases of fruits and vegetables

now being served in happy meals have more than

quadrupled in a majority of their markets

however, the olympic village offers more of a challenge

this mcdonald's is the only one in the world that will offer

a very specific happy meal, one designed for the athletes

they'll contain oysters, red bull and 5 hour energy drinks

it seems the kids in the village need an edge

because after their events at the games various venues

they need to power-up and get ready for the real competition
