egypt is open to visitors who drink alcohol and wear bikinis
that's the big push for this coming summer season
the action is hot and the burkas are coming off
that's what the tourism minister has said
as the islamist-ruled country sets out to boost tourists dollars
earlier this month tourists were warned to cover up on certain
public beaches in the UAE or face a fine for showing too
much skin and were told not to consume booze
but that really screwed-up the business
close to a 60% loss and nobody was having any fun
so egypt's tourism minister has now vetoed those rules
and declared that visitors who drink alcohol and wear bikinis
are welcome in his country
various muslim groups are up-in-arms about this
as the beaches are expected to be up-to-the-butt in bikinis
the minister, hisham zaazou, said the government had
'optimistic goals' for the summer, and he does not agree
with certain radical muslim groups who have called for a
ban on alcohol and women wearing swimsuits
'bikinis are welcome in egypt and booze is still being served'
zaazou, speaking in english, told a news conference
'we had talks with these groups and now they understand
the importance of the tourism sector, plus these groups
are a bunch of pussies and aren't the kind that
will cause any trouble, most are camel jockeys living in the past
there currently is some tourism to egypt
but once you've ridden a camel what else' he asked
tourism numbers have dropped considerably following
president hosni mubarak's departure so now
rebuilding tourism has become a national priority
as part of the branding for egyptian tourism 2013
they plan to stream live video from various area resorts
to western hot spots like new york city's times square
the problem he admits is that those videos will air right along
side live feeds from cnn and fox news showing the real
heated action now happening in the middle east
and that will make a vacation to mexico now seem safe
