you ask my old friend, well, old acquaintance
jerry seinfeld, ask him, jerry, what's your new show called
comedians in cars getting coffee about
and he'll just look at you like you're stupid or something
seinfeld likes descriptive, simple titles or nothing
let's be clear from the start, jerry doesn't need to work
it's just that jerry needs to work
seinfeld is just such a fan of comedy and such a student that
he's never far from the action, he just loves the comedic arts
but why a web based series of he and his friends driving
around LA or NYC getting coffee (which is actually lunch)
seinfeld could walk into any major network office anyday
and say he wanted to make a brand new TV sitcom
- a new one about nothing and within seconds
it would be cast and it would be in production
but he doesn't want that again - been there, done that
so now instead we have these little short indie films of
him laughing at inane conversation while dodging speeding tickets
the show feels like it’s meant to be casual & spur-of-the-moment
but it isn't and doesn’t look that way either
the video is crisp and very rich looking and the editing is sharp
there's quick cuts every second or two, coffee - car - coffee
making it look like there's a 20 man camera crew in the
glove box among other places - a different shot again & again
seinfeld has put as much meticulous energy into making a
casual conversation look so highly produced that in the end it
looks scripted and well rehearsed

what we really like most about jerry seinfeld is his passion
for the ordinary and most of us value and respect his
unwavering commitment for
doing nothing
