AN INSIDE LOOK AT THE MADNESS

there's a new documentary in town

and this one - is a good one

it's 'an ode to the art and the occupational hazards of stand-up comedy'

that's what this movie promises... - and it delivers

filmed and directed by a former stand-up named jordan brady

- it's full of quick sound bites from some of your favorite all-time comics

as well as some great stand-up veterans that haven't made a sitcom

real stand-up comics do just that

they don't make movies or sitcoms or do shakespare off broadway

some might, - but in my mind, they then become something else

robin williams, tom hanks and jamie fox were great stand-up comedians

than went on to become fantastic actors - and that's what they are now

not comedians...

robin still does $tand-up - and does it better than almost anyone

but stand-ups are a different kinda animal, something different altogether

- i don't really know how to explain it

but

this movie does a hell-of-a-job trying to explain it - and it's funny too...

the meat of the movie focuses on ritch shydner

ritch was a pretty well known stand-up in the 80s - but then retired

- and stayed home and wrote about comedy

now it seems, because of this movie, he has made a comeback

he now has upcoming show dates all around the country

- when he makes his first return to the stage in the movie

- he finds it's not a stage, - it's not even a club - it's just a bar in the valley

where everybody is talking, watching tv and shootin' pool

he doesn't do very well

but when he gets through - he's energized and ready give it another shot

ritch shydner is back

the documentary covers a lot of funny subjects and really gets into

the mind of these people that do this kinda stuff, plus

it's great to see some old comedy faces that we've been missin'

the movie even has a comedy lesson from phyllis diller (60 years in the business)

'set-up - payoff, set-up payoff, it's mathematic - it's music'

she's right

WATCH THE TRAILER. RENT THE MOVIE. HAVE FUN.
