yes, things seem to be getting outta hand
but people have always been weird
- which pisses off the rest of us
but with the media pushing everything to it’s extreme
- they’re causing an extreme anger like we’ve never seen
yes, it is the media’s fault, but the media is also the antidote
…back in 1966, when things were really lousy, so bad
that we invented hippies and burned bras…
pollster lou harris launched his poll dubbed : the alienation index
it rated the people’s frustration level with a percentage
-well, that pissed people off...
the percentage of people feeling pissed, frustrated - annoyed,
has risen time and time again over the past decades
- until recently
the alienation level last year was the lowest it’s been in over 20 years
what’s happened… what is making the folks feel LESS frustrated
the answer is, people now seem to be amused with all the stupidity
and the demographic, ‘under 40’, which is the majority, simply see it as
entertainment
(and not the slippery slope into chaos that it is) ...they're
- just soakin’ up the sun on the jersey shore, watching the daily show
and having another shot of tequila bought with their folk’s credit cards
and because of the sense of empowerment that new technology offers
people don’t feel as alienated, (not with so many friends on facebook)
they have their peeps and their little tribes and are ok with that
escapism in all forms seems to be the answer
turn off the news report and turn on the colbert report
stay high, go to sleep, get up, get high and go back to sleep
we'd rather be delusional than dejected
and since there is no longer the fear of the alien invasion,
from either the southern border or a galaxy far far away,
there's no more extreme outrage - it’s all just extreme fantasy…
