yeah, that’s the ticket…
after years of acting, jon lovitz decided to try stand-up comedy
he studied straight acting for ten years
he was a drama major at uc
- worked on the groundlings and naturally was a hit on the cast of snl
a few years ago, the movie roles he was offered, were drying up
and he was urged by denis leary in the old days to try stand-up
he was ready to face his fear, so he gave it a shot
he went to the laugh factory in
jamie masada, - you gotta force me on stage – or I’ll never do it
masada said, - you’re on in 20 minutes…
everybody on stage that night, all the other comics
were young enough to be his children, but
with some help from dane cook, he got through it
and is now the proud owner of his own club
the jon lovitz comedy club in the universal city walk ...
the club has become a hit, and there, jon is center stage...
but lovitz is still in demand, so he's back making movies
his new movie, casino jack, which opens this weekend
stars kevin spacey as jack abramoff scheming to
buy a casino/cruise line in
lovitz plays a former mattress salesman with ties to mobsters
who likes strippers and cocaine, - that should be fun
yeah, that's it, - that’s the ticket, jon
