CHENANGO, N.Y., Nov. 4 (UPI)
A tractor-trailer overturned on Interstate 81 near the
small town of Chenango, N.Y.,
and spilled doughnuts across the roadway and median,
according to Broome County Sheriff Tom Sienko.
"A lot of doughnuts- there are a lot of doughnuts, all over
the place, they spilled from their boxes after the truck
hit a guardrail and rolled over about 2:30 a.m. Friday,
we had to call-in all of our off duty deputies!" Sienko said.
The sheriff said all southbound lanes were closed for more
than 6 hours following the accident.
The driver, was immediately arrested and taken to a
nearby facility and kept for 'questioning'.
Emergency vehicles were summoned to help with the
clean-up effort and were asked to bring coffee,
cream and sugar.
"The remaining contents of his truck will remain in
the custody of the County Sheriff." Sienko stated.
The evidence in this incident is currently being carefully
evaluated by the deputies at Sheriff's office.
There has been no statement as to when they will be
able to return to service.
