barricades surrounding a park that served as a camp
for occupy wall street protesters were just removed
allowing protesters to stream back in, a flood
the atmosphere is celebratory but calm
as about 300 protesters are filling nyc's zuccotti park
somebody actually filed a complaint with the city
and the city came in and took away the barricades
a great big, 'welcome back' to the street people
who actually all went home for the holidays
and now have returned to look for work - in the park
people have picked up, right where they left off
strumming guitars, firing-up fat ones and generally
just hanging out, or what some call 'protesting'
they're eating lasagna on paper plates and playing chess
in the park, all night
the security guards who were previously guarding the
barricades stood off to the side, along with a handful of
police officers, on overtime pay, which in nyc is quintuple
time and a half, plus extra 'goldentime' days off with pay
it was a minor victory for the protesters
who have complained about financial inequality
however after these many long months of
pissing away their parents money
they may reach their goal
pretty soon, mom and dad are gonna be broke
they may reach their goal
pretty soon, mom and dad are gonna be broke
then who will pay for the crayons and poster board
and that student loan...
