TV: EXECUTIVES WITH FANCY PENS

the television can be a powerful tool and

a colossal waste of electricity and technology

so here's our 4th and final installment of

comedy on television, the final and fourth chapter

we left off explaining the upcoming television season

and how all of tv is, once again, embracing comedy

and in some cases, classic comedy - the core of tv

abc's 12 new comedies cover everything from

nuclear families to nuclear proliferation, and they're

bringing back some more well known names for a 2nd

and in some cases, a 4th or 5th try at the sit-com

comedy legends like, judy greer, reba mcentire,

portia de rossi, doris roberts and sarah chalk... sarah chalke

seems that the networks like devotion to characters

over plot, they say it is 'critical to their authenticity and

specificity' ? i'm not sure, was that funny?

the cbs entertainment chief says 'the key in new prospects

is having those core relationships at the center of the show'

- yeah, not clever writing or comedic situations,

like a sitcom should be... just 'character development'

nothing new or funny, what's happened to comedy...

what do network executives know about comedy anyway...

- heck, they're just clueless executives

executives that have budgets and meetings and

fancy pens - and way, way too, too many, many distractions

although cbs has had a string of mass-appeal hits

and the simpsons just keeps going and going, doope

others haven't been quite so lucky until lately

'considering where comedy was three years ago

there's obviously a huge renewal of interest in the sitcom

whether it's the recession or whether it's cyclical'

says abc's spokesman for the purpose of this blog, stan falvey

'the trick is finding the right alchemy of writing

and casting and concept to ensure survival and

for the longest time, there was a dearth of comedy writers

- comedy writing is not easy to do well' he says

- as we demonstrate here daily...
