on thursday took a first step toward potentially eliminating
most trans fat from our human food supply
this, the mainstay of the american diet for decades
they simply made the unilateral decision that hydrogenated oils
are no longer safe - something about fat kids
the ruling says hydrogenated oils will become food additives
suddenly, and not a fulfilling food in and of itself
and now can no longer be used in food without approval
as you know, foods with unapproved additives cannot legally be sold
food police have been trying to crack-down on these fats for years
however they still allow crack itself to be in widespread use
but that's mainly in the halls of the toronto city hall
these dangerous fats are found primarily in processed foods
ya know, the good stuff like desserts, microwave popcorn
frozen foods, margarine, creamers and creams like whipped
the kinds of foods that crackheads need and crave
despite the fact that these fats have been used in
american homes for over 100 years... they are now bad
apparently now is the time to rid the country of this scourge
people... this is the kind of stuff that has made us great
last century wasn't called the american century for nothing
this is the stuff that increases the shelf life of many foods
and adds all that great american flavor to great american foods
partially hydrogenated vegetable oil, or shortening
has been used by good cooks in good kitchens as early as 1911
however, in recent years many food manufacturers have
taken steps to limit or eliminate trans fat from their products
mcdonald's, for instance, stopped cooking its french fries
in trans fat more than a decade ago
