in a truly unbelievable turn of events
the CBS network announced today its replacement for the
outgoing host of its long running show 'late night'
'late night' has always been with david letterman
but very soon it will become the domain of da main man
and dat man is none other than stephen colbert
'i never dreamed that I would follow in david's footsteps
but now, if you’ll excuse me, i have to go grind a gap
in my front teeth' - yeah, that stephen colbert
CBS big shots while congratulating themselves by drinking
champagne out of ellen's tennis shoes said that this choice
speaks of their commitment to upholding what letterman
has established in late night programing
that being said, there must be a silly top ten reasons thingy coming
colbert is a multi talented and a well respected host
- do you see how he never falls when he joins his guests on the platform
- he never looks, he never trips, and that takes talent
colbert is also an award winning writer, producer, satirist
as well as a brave comedian who blazes many a new trail
the problem is now that trial will be seen by adults
that my not be such a welcome addition to their regular
sleepy time regiment
most of what colbert calls the colbert nation are adolescent
or riders of the shorter of the buses
not the grown-ups who have grown-up with david letterman
this will become a real challenge for CBS
but let's face it, CBS is always challenged
the real answer to any potential problem will be what
jimmy fallon tweeted shortly after today's announcement
'colbert will just have to change his name to jimmy now
and he'll fit right into late night network television nicely'
