BACK TO SHCOOL

looks like spell check wasn't engaged,

or any common sense either

a giant, obvious misspelling on a nyc crosswalk

has city, utility and school officials pointing fingers

usually they are pointing their middle fingers

assuring that none will win a spelling bee

even worse, the misspelling is right outside a

manhattan high school, ohhh the state of our schools

throw more money at 'em, i say

the painted pavement outside marta valle high school

reads "SHCOOL X-NG," as you can see

but can you read... did you go to public school...

the department of transportation claims the mistake

was made by a utility provider repairing the street

city officials say utility providers and contractors are

responsible for returning city streets back to normal

at least one city worker said the blame lies not

with the utility company or the city, but with the school

is it because the schools have failed to teach spelling...

regardless of who painted it, someone from the school

should have been outside supervising, or noticed it by now

the error has gone either unnoticed and unrepaired by

both the city and the school for months

there continues to be a lot of finger pointing

nobody wants to pay to have the problem fixed

because of the high cost

- the cost of 5 city workers, working 5 hours,

including lunch and other break periods

at 62 dollars per hour plus the cost of materials

so the repair is due to cost approximately $4000

officials at the school have had no comment

except from a 2nd grader who volunteered to repaint

the street for the cost of a bag of chips ahoy

a ny dot spokesman told the ny post that if we can

get the little girl to join the union, she can do the job
