rush out to the store
today is national banana split day!
that's right folks
it's that extra special day of the year
when you just gotta have a banana split
to be real - it should be served in a banana boat
the split is a variation on a traditional ice cream sundae
it’s easy to make, but you’ll need lots of ingredients
it usually costs about $22.50 to make one at home
but then again - it's homemade (but it's $22.50!)
you'll need to go out and find the following
a banana boat (for a hint to what that is)
rent the bogart movie african queen
you'll need a banana and 3 different kinds of ice cream
chocolate, vanilla and of course strawberry
get some hot fudge - that you'll have to make hot yourself
and some chunky pineapple sauce
(impossible to find - better start callin' stores now)
and strawberries in their own sugar-added sauce
ya gotta get chopped nuts, a can of whipped cream
and a jar of maraschino cherries
whew, that's a lot of stuff - about $22.50
instructions
split a banana and place a slice on either side of your boat - see? - split...
add 3 scoops of ice cream in between, one of chocolate, one of vanilla,
and one of strawberry
generously top the chocolate scoop with hot fudge, the vanilla with candied pineapple,
and the strawberry ice cream with the strawberry sauce
next, swirl whipped cream over each scoop individually
finally, sprinkle with crushed nuts and a few maraschino cherries
don't forget the big spoon - now maybe it's up to $24.00
today will be a great day
the average banana split has about 1200 calories
yours will have anywhere between 2000 and 3000
better get to the market - you got some shopping to do
and maybe walk or run (3000 calories)
