BEER CHILL FACTOR

it was a very hot summer

i really had to spend most of my time

dealing with temperature management

or as i call it - drinking beer

they have community cooling centers here in the desert

they call them bars

every day all summer these places are filled with

poor, hot people trying to cool off

it made me wonder

- i often wonder about stuff when i go to the cooling center

is there a formula that can determine how many beers

it takes to lower your body temperature enough to handle

outside surface temperatures reaching 120 degrees...

well, i found it

it's called the beer chill factor

it's all about the felt temperature of exposed skin

not the actual air temperature

and out here, when it's hot, there is a lot of exposed skin

- trust me

hot weather, cooling centers, exposed skin

i love it out here

the beer chill temperature is never higher than the air

temperature, and the beerchill temp starts at 69 degrees

humidity or moisture on the skin can result in a higher

perceived air temperature

spilt beer on the skin can result in what's called flash chill

if the beer is spilled on the front of your shirt

the flash chill can result in the hardening of the nipples

which is accurately termed the beer/nip index

or... is it cold or are you just happy to see me

note however that beer/nip index figures increase

dramatically with the wind chill factor

as you can see - it's a complicated set of numbers

the highest recorded beer/nip index was recorded

right here in the palm springs area when a young college

co-ed spilled beer on her t-shirt and rode her motorcycle

through town at a high rate of speed

she was safe however

- she had her headlights on

as always - the answer is cold beer

i forget the question
