it started tame enough
seth meyers stealing jimmy fallon's bit about 'thank you notes'
the note said he'd do only original comedy bits - from now on
then he started his first late night show
he joked how he'd change things up by starting with a
monologue
seth meyers is no stand-up comedian
his first monologue must have given the country a case of mono
- as least it put me to sleep
meyers looked like he was reading letterman's top ten list
slow, methodical, sad
an hour earlier, fallon’s monologue had olympics jokes and a
mayor rob ford joke; one hour later, meyers’ first-ever
monologue started with an olympics joke and a rob ford joke
which brings us back to just two words
- lorne michaels
ya see, seth meyers has this particular problem
meyers spent the last thirteen years at saturday night live
most of them as the show’s head writer - and not much else
meyers is still yelling like a fake newscaster, like chevy chase
and not just talking like a late night talk show host
he likes quick and snappy bits and they have their place
maybe even after midnight on a show like late night
but the show can't go on with these weaknesses
NBC is betting a lot on a whole young group of talent
to hopefully draw in a whole new group of young viewers
and us old farts will have to deal with that
and have trouble with the popular cultural references
and be glad that we know who joe biden is
as part of the monologue seth announced that the brassiere
will turn 100 years old later this week
and so does everyone who still calls it a brassiere...
it shows the demographic i fall in to
my age group liked it when the brassiere was just a bra
and all the girls were burning them
